A man who laced sweets with sedative and provided them to children at a summer camp in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual crimes against two young males who were between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was detained after eight minors and one adult fell ill at the location in July.
The 76-year-old, from that region, confessed to a total of 17 charges when he stood at the judicial center on the end of the week.
Nevertheless, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was charged with, which was against a nine-year-old boy.
The defendant was kept in jail prior to a further hearing on late November.
'Sweet game'
The legal representative, presenting evidence, outlined the defendant's actions to the court.
She stated his those affected were disadvantaged youngsters who were attending a youth camp which he ran.
The defendant conducted a "treat game" with the children, the legal counsel said, in which he would access the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and request they to ingest treats "rapidly".
She told the court the defendant had played this game with the young males "over an extended period", and children had previously become sick the subsequent day.
She explained the defendant had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the minors being "overstimulated by activities", until his family member had concerns in recently.
Mrs Prior KC added: "In the summer" his stepchild had worries about what was going on, justifiably.
"They chose" to have a look in the defendant's belongings."
The legal counsel explained items including lubricant, petroleum jelly and syringes were found, and his family member contacted the law enforcement about his suspicions.
She explained the defendant continued to engage in the "treat game" with six children that night - that Saturday - and they were all sick the following morning.
"Authorities" had not gone out by that time," she added.
The oversight body, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, earlier informed that it was examining the police response of the incident.
The prosecutor explained the minors were struggling to walk due to their condition, so the family member called the law enforcement again.
She said the man then engaged in the "sweet game" in a space of five youngsters.
